This allows us to predict flux density, identify magnetic leakage, and optimize the size and grade of the magnet before physical manufacturing begins, saving you time and money. The answer to this question ultimately depends on the magnetic circuit and its application. For higher field density needs in environments with elevated temperature, several choices are available. This list includes the high HCi grades of Neodymium (NdFeB) (SH,UH, EH), Samarium Cobalt (SmCo) and Alnico grades 5 and 8. Standard Neodymium (NdFeB) magnets can begin to lose their magnetic force (reversible or irreversible demagnetization) at temperatures as low as 80°C depending on the grade. For high-heat environments (like aerospace actuators or high-performance EV motors), we typically recommend transitioning to high-temperature NdFeB grades (like UH or EH) or utilizing Samarium Cobalt (SmCo), which offers excellent thermal stability up to 300°C–350°C.
